Direct Access Accommodation - Byker Bridge House

Byker Bridge House based in Wilfred Street, Byker, is a purpose designed hostel which provides accommodation to 31 single homeless men and women. Byker Bridge House provides direct access accommodation for those in immediate need.

Each resident has a bedroom with an ensuite which is accessed via a keycard. They also share access to the living and dining room, kitchen and laundry room. Accommodation is provided on a part board basis with cooked breakfast and evening meal.

The hostel is staffed 24 hours per day and at least two members of staff will be on duty at any one time. Staff are on hand to offer support and advice on benefits, housing and resettlement issues.

Coppergate House

Coppergate House based in Hebburn, South Tyneside is a purpose built 25 bed hostel for single homeless and vulnerable people.

Accommodation is provided on a part board basis, breakfast and evening meal. Each resident has a single furnished bedroom and access to the communal living and dining room, kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, and relaxation facilities. The use of alcohol is allowed and permitted in some communal areas which makes Coppergate the areas' only 'Wet Hostel'.

The hostel is staffed 24 hours per day and at least two members of staff will be on duty at any one time. Each resident has a keyworker and a support plan. Staff assist residents to make choices and decisions to help them maintain their accommodation and improve their quality of life.

Westbridge

The Westbridge Hostel exists to provide specialist accommodation to people engaged with the Adult Forensic Service, for whom discharge back into the community may prove problematic or unsafe. The Hostel provides accommodation for 10 people and is staffed 24hrs a day.

Byker Bridge Housing Association manage the project in partnership with the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust who provide a range of specialist clinical input from The Community Mental Health Team. This multi-disciplinary team have developed links with other community-based services to assist residents’ successful reintegration back into the community.
