Local Food Grant
Ouseburn Farm is grateful for the support of the Big Lottery Fund who have recently awarded us a grant under their ‘Local Food Grant’ scheme.
Local Food is a £57.5 million programme that distributes lottery grants to a variety of food-related projects to help make locally grown food accessible and affordable to local communities.
The Farm’s grant allows us, over the next two years, to maximize our food production capacity and to create food growing spaces in gardens within properties managed by Tyne Housing Association, our parent Charity.
The project allows the Farm to employ two Horticultural Support Workers who coordinate a team of volunteers who assist in the project. This team of volunteers includes vulnerable adults who benefit from learning opportunities through education and training.
As the project develops, and our food production capacity is maximized, we will be setting up a Market Garden selling seasonal home-grown fruit and vegetables, jams and chutneys, meat and eggs.
If you would like to volunteer to help in the project, please contact Lorraine Kerr, our Volunteer & Adult Placement Co-ordinator, via firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Farm on 0191 2323698.
